These past six months have been quite hectic as I’ve been renovating my new place. Now, I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. I’m not completely finished, but pretty darn close.
When I first looked at the place, people said I was crazy for wanting to buy it. And they were right, I was crazy.<!–more–> I completely under estimated the work load that I got myself into. But I could also see the potential it held. And I was committed to seeing the renovations all the way through. From the remains of the old concrete dock left in the in the lake, to the two feet of muck hidden in the pool, there have been many unforeseen set backs. But with each completion of a task comes a sense of pride and accomplishment that creates a hunger for more.
I couldn’t have gotten even this far alone. My roommate Scott Dearduff has been a huge help, as well as a few of my friends. The dock was quite a task though, everything from the removal of the old dock to the two month long permitting process. Mike McNally at Just Docks has been great to work with, helping me from start to finish not only with the dock, but with landscaping as well. The dock is solid as a rock. And of course I want the best boat lift, considering I’ll be lifting 7,000 lbs of boat up into the air. Aluminum boat cradles makes the best lifts, hands down, and that’s what I’ve got inside my boat house.
I’m stoked all around on the lake situation at my house, and really looking forward to housing some students and riding this season.
Big thanks to Aluminum Boat Cradles and Just Docks!
Just got to Brazil to do some coaching and get an early start on the season. The weather here is amazing, Its their summer and its nice and hot. Not only that, but the scenery is beautiful. I started coaching in Broa Lake on Saturday, and since then have come to ride in Igarata with my friend Rodrigo. The Brazilians have so much enthusiasm for the sport. I let them try the Austin Series, and three of them bought it right away. Now, I’m learning some more Portuguese and making friends along the way. I can’t believe I only have a week down here. I will be back down for sure at least twice a year. Enjoy the photos. [..]
We just got back from a cable trip down to South Florida, and it was an epic time. The Warhol brothers, the Cohen brothers, and myself packed up and left Orlando last Friday to travel down to Fort Myers and Deerfield Beach, FL. We first stopped at Revolution. This park was totally new to me. Although a bit old school, it was still pretty fun. They could definitely use some new obstacles, but their a frame wasn’t bad. We really just had a lot of fun doing air tricks. That night was topped off with some wings and of course karaoke. Julian Cohen really shined as the “class clown” during this spectacle with his loud, off key shouts. We found out later he was actually trying a technique he learned in voice lessons, and we all agreed he should probably ask for a refund. [..]
On Friday I got a chance to help out with an organization called Love Grows. The building was packed with people who came to help support the cause. It was such a positive atmosphere [..]
It’s the off season in North America right now, which means a lot less traveling and a little bit more downtime than normal. It’s been great [..]
